Orphan…was O.K.

Well Orphan did not disappoint and I am glad for that with what seems to be a plethora of… disappointing thriller/horror movies leaving you waiting on the scare that they so promised in their trailers. Orphan certainly made its mark but it still was only just O.K. in the eyes of Frequency.

Certainly the Plot was well done besides the cliché of the adopted child (the orphan) turning out to be not as innocent as she appeared to be in the beginning and also the cliché of the orphan being killed in the end.

I must comment on the director’s use of camera angles and audio to convey what a horror movie should convey which is mystery and fear. This is another movie which was well casted especially the ‘Orphan’  Isabelle Furhman was perfect in her portrayal of the ‘Demon Child’.

A few downsides to the movie is that as I said it was not excellent …it was O.K., a movie you could spend on but if you have a better choice take it. It was scary but not scary enough it was mysterious but still cliché. We give Orphan a lukewarm rating in the sense that if Jaume Collet-Serra were to direct another movie then we would go and watch it in hopes that she will continue to improve upon her work.
