Dream Weekend Negril Review
by Akino 'Kinofras' Rose
Hello loyal readers, it’s that time again when I get to talk about the weekend just past on the negril strip (Norman Manley boulevard) for the dreamers. This year, dream weekend was nothing short from fun fun, fun, ….wait did I mention…. Fun! Despite a few casualties it was nothing short from RTI the past year …some may say it was even better than those of the past. It all started Thursday at 12 noon where we could see many patrons rushing into the new and Improved Margaritaville to redeem there arm band, then rushing back to their rooms to get read for the well anticipated Absinthe the beach mardi gras affair and Dream Weekend Kick Off.
From as early as two in the afternoon we could see the ladies sexily clad in their bikinis running into the venue which led to the males flocking the neatly set up Margaritaville. Well Absinthe proved itself, the crowd and the vibe was great, the drinks served were “off the chain” according to one female patron who under the the influence stated that “sip n go naked” was here favourite drink of the night and …from the slurring of her words and the two guys carrying her out …we know why. Well fans the night didn’t stop there everybody could be seen rushing back to there rooms as it was said that twisted spirits wasn’t a party to be missed.
Well up on arriving to the beautiful ambiance of Chances the Frequency team was greeted by some beautiful young ladies glad in bikinis handing out lays, from then on we knew this party was going to be outrageous the dj’s did a bit of old school selection then went on to play what the new generation would call nowadays music from some of the more popular artiste all in all from what was gathered from the drunken crowd the party did SELL OFF!. It was now Friday morning on the negril strip with more crowd coming in from Kingston and the sexy ladies visiting the beach to get that beautiful tan before the well anticipated Daydreams the all white beach party.
I was out on the strip by 4 in the afternoon which was lit up by the patrons clad in their all white making there way to Daydreams although the sky was a bit overcast these patrons seemed not to care and where all ready to hit the beach and party. On arriving at the now transformed long bay beach the place was flooded with people in there fresh, white, attire… partying in the rain on the beach. On entrance I was welcomed by Two hot young ladies who told me I was too dry and needed to get wet I wont expound on that one… the party was going crazy but heated up when liquid took the stage and decided to turn the place upside down with a variety of daggering tunes for the ladies, then he played the tunes for the ‘thugs’. At the end of Day dreams the whole strip was drunk and people were lookin’ forward to that long walk or long wait in traffic up to their rooms. So Absinthe, Twisted and Daydreams has gone it was now time for the ultimate beach 90’s party YUSH unfortunately… I was too… Drunk! from Daydreams so I did not make that trip but my partner Andre ‘Millz’ Millwood will definitely fill you in.
I was awoken by the noise of the Redbull truck on Saturday at 12 noon and I noticed everybody was busily making there way to the new and improved Cool Runnings Water Park so I hurried to get down there as it was time to get “Wet n Wild” on arriving a the venue it seemed that most if not all the patrons were fully intoxicated Tony Matterhorn had the crown on the main floor going wild with some crazy selection even a few entertainment figures and icons could be spotted splashing and dashing such as Aidonia ,Elephant man, Jah Cure, Flippa Mafia and many others. This was indeed and the patrons that we have checked with concur the CRAZIEST! party of the weekend despite a few fights where the Frequency saw a popular female from Kingston getting her face punched in for ‘stealing people man’ and one young man getting is head smashed in with a bottle… Wet n Wild did sell off! When all was said and done we left and it was back up to the hotel to get ready for what was to be the Raw, Hardcore Red Stripe Beer Vibes. Many patrons dubbed it Red Stripe No Vibes, some felt it was cause by the fact that certain selectors of which we wont mention did not deliver and did not fit into the expectations of the patrons in terms of their selection styled and delivery. I must say that towards the end we do thank Fire Links for giving us that crazy vibe to leave with.
So all in all negril was crazy but we here from the Liquid Frequency would like to send out condolences to friend and family of the late Emile “heskey” Combrie who died in a tragic car accident on his way negril to party with us. Our heart goes to his family and close friends namely the “Italianz”. He lives on in all of us hearts. We also plead that everyone please be safe on the roads “speed kills”. This is Akino Rose Delivering the news on negril thank you.
